Admission Requirements and Cut-Off Marks

Admission into UNN is competitive, reflecting its esteemed reputation. Prospective students must meet specific criteria to be considered:

  • Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME): Candidates are required to sit for the UTME, organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The general cut-off mark set by JAMB is 180 out of 400. However, UNN often sets its departmental cut-off marks higher, depending on the competitiveness and demand for specific courses. For instance, courses like Medicine, Law, and Engineering may have cut-off marks ranging from 200 to 250. It's essential for applicants to check the specific cut-off for their desired course each academic year, as these benchmarks can vary.

  • O'Level Requirements: Applicants must possess a minimum of five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.

  • Post-UTME Screening: After the UTME, candidates are required to undergo a post-UTME screening exercise conducted by the university. This assessment further evaluates candidates' suitability for their chosen courses.

Acceptance Fees and Other Charges

Upon gaining admission, new students are mandated to pay an acceptance fee to confirm their placement. As of the latest academic session, the acceptance fee is ₦25,000. This fee is subject to change, so it's advisable for students to verify the current amount during their admission process.

In addition to the acceptance fee, students are required to pay other charges, including tuition and accommodation fees. Tuition fees vary depending on the faculty and course of study. For example, courses in the Faculty of Medicine may have higher fees compared to those in the Faculty of Arts. Accommodation fees also differ based on the type of hostel and facilities provided.
